Elective Courses.

Elective Courses.

All students must choose a studio course of either filmmaking, graphic design, gaming/3D animation or digital music production. In addition to these courses they can also choose to take a number of elective courses. The electives offered to our students are designed to enhance the student's understanding of their studio course. It allows them to practice more challenging techniques and advance their portfolio of work.

AICE PHOTOGRAPHY

This Cambridge course allows the students to individualize their curriculum by creating portfolios of work designed to increase their technical skill and creative interest. Students will complete two portfolio exams that are shipped to Cambridge University in England to be evaluated on their competency in art concepts. Successful exams yield three college credit hours. This course is ideal for any student wanting to fine tune their photographic eye. It is ideal for students wanting to work in fields associated with photography and videography.

2D ANIMATION

This course introduces students to the creation of animated imagery through various media.This ranges from simple hand illustrations such as flip books and zoetropes to more complex animations completed on the computer using software such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Flash, and ToonBoom. This course is ideal for students wanting to expand their 2D illustration capabilities and have a desire to work in the 2D and 3D animation fields.

Our collegiate advisory board recommended to us that all students going into any visual art field should have 2D illustration as part of their portfolio of work when applying for college

SPECIAL EFFECTS FOR FILM

Students use Adobe AfterEffects, Premiere, and Photoshop to achieve a number of pre- and post-production video special effects. This includes wire and rigging removal, green screen work, motion graphics, kinetic typography, shot compositing, and 3D graphics. This course is ideal for students interested in working in post-production effects for film and television.

3D CREATURE DESIGN

In this class students will learn to design, construct, and mold a sculpted character, using life-casting, plaster casting and latex. Students will also be introduced to basic animatronics as well as airbrushing techniques. This course is ideal for artists interested in working with practical effects for film and television production, animation studios, or theme parks.
